I came across this post just a couple of days ago via the recommendations page and promptly restacked it ! Our children had the pleasure of growing up with their Baba in our home, and staying with their other grandma during our yearly visits to Switzerland. To them it was bizarre that other families did not live together with their grandparents. Beautiful writing, timeless, and moving.

Thank you, Ruth, and thank you for sharing your own memories. They are precious. I just returned from almost a month long trip to my childhood home which stands less than a few hundred meters away from this house. A moment ago I posted my reflections from this visit, if you’d like to read.

I found time to read this lovely post while babysitting two of my grandkids.. both live with me. I couldn’t imagine life without them. And now I’ll watch a movie with them, sleep with them, and look forward to taking them to the local pool tomorrow for hours of fun. It’s a privilege. Thanks for the post. 💚👌
