Very interesting. I do have a few doubts though. Firstly, I think the term "intelligence" is too general, and that we have different kinds of intelligence. Unless that should be called aptitudes. Secondly, I think even people with so-called higher levels of intelligence, can be influenced by advertising. Thirdly, if I'd applied your dictum in the last sentence when I was teaching, I doubt that some parents and pupils would have really got the message. I had to be fairly explicit if they weren't doing well, otherwise it would have just been misleading them and ultimately not helpful.
