Then we will be like cats to them. Is it a bad plan? (Ask yours). Anyway, there must be a limit to our stupidity and self-destructive insistence as a species. Why not resign? Sadly, I'm afraid in the long run we will drive the machines to suicide (or to resign too, and let's start the cycle wherever we can).

I have read more than a couple of dystopian stories where humanity is kept alive, like a pet, or in my case, had a small spider that I named Peter, anyway, alive like a pet. If we're treating the planet like a cesspool, why ( got dragged off point ) would nature / earth / keep the species on Earth.

Interesting question for sure. I fully expect that AI is on track to become exactly the sort of tool you suggest—one deployed by companies/governments to “save us” from ourselves and protect the bottom line. At least, that will be the excuse they give for why we’re no longer allowed control over even the smallest facets of our own lives. Best let the bots and brain chips take it from here, flawed human!
