You bring out the isolation, the feeling of helplessness in the face of what the two men feel is almost the inevitable. History repeating itself, mutual incomprehension, the sins of the fathers. Good story.

Pretty much exactly my aim in this one, always a great pleasure to hear it’s landed as intended. Thank you for reading.

The quality of writing on substack is mixed. Your story broke a string of less than stellar writing. Thanks!

Also great to hear, I truly appreciate that. I greatly love this art and, hopefully not to spoil any mystery, work very hard on technique and craft to be able to execute what I want emotionally. So to hear it moved someone really is the whole point and very gratifying. So before I get too effusive, thanks again.

It makes a change to read something that makes sense! Then to get something that’s also thoughtful is a bonus.

I really like Gary in this scene. He's trying to be a good friend and all. Ray blaming his dad...I disagree. Life is hard, man. He did his best. Man, this is a great story, though. It feels so real. Great work, Brady.
