A Sci-fi Novel by M. K. Weaving
#2 Aubade
Betsy: Hello Felix, I’m happy you could join again me to introduce out second STSC featured author, M K Weaving. Minna as she is known to us has been writing for a while now and we always enjoy her remarkable variety. Originally from Finland, she often shares stories featuring her childhood experiences. She has a great series on classic movies on her Substack page and has published two other books which you can find here. Her newest is Aubade a Sci-fi novel. It’s full of action and hard to put down. You know Thomas J Bevan (long may he live; long may he prosper) started the Soaring Twenties Social Club as a place for creatives from all over the world to hang out and share ideas on the internet. Minna brings her unique perspective there too.
Felix: Thank you, Betsy! There’s nothing the STSC wouldn’t be able to do, is there? Minna’s novel might as well have an answer for where Thomas is! “You just woke up and find yourself onboard the spaceship Aubade escaping Earth. Forever. Last thing you remember is going to bed. On Earth.” Sometimes it’s beyond fascinating how fiction can lead us to answers which no other way would no matter how hard we try, such as trying to see a glimpse of our dear leader…
From M K Weaving:
You just woke up and find yourself onboard the spaceship Aubade escaping Earth. Forever. Last thing you remember is going to bed. On Earth.
Sara wakes up onboard the interstellar spaceship Aubade and realizes she’s lost everyone and everything she’s ever loved back on Earth. Forever. As she begins to adapt to her new life as the Historian onboard Aubade, she is determined to find out who selected her against her will.
Once the crew of Aubade land on a foreign planet tensions rise and suspicions grow between the defense team and the engineering team. Commander Stapleton recruits her to unravel a crucial situation within the defense database, and despite her lack of expertise, Sara reluctantly agrees to help. As relationships develop and Sara finds out more and more about this mission, she must confront her fears and navigate the complexities of her new life.
Here’s what readers say after reading Aubade:
“Aubade is a well-paced sci-fi book that is imaginative and engaging. I had a hard time putting it down.”
“The author takes you on a trip so descriptive that you can imagine being in the main character’s shoes.”
“M. K. Weaving gets better with each book.”
Several readers have said that this was the first science fiction book they have ever read and liked! My own theory is that it’s because I keep the human in the story. There’s an actual human you can identify with even if she’s completely removed from everything else that is familiar.
More about the book:
Betsy: We haven’t heard anything definitive on Thomas’s disappearance yet but there has been one reported development. A witness has come forward claiming he saw a burly ginger hair man following him the last night he was seen. That was on a Wednesday. Until he returns (not a coup), we’ll try our best to showcase some of the members who he has inspired.
Felix: There’s a whole branch of continental philosophy dedicated to the idea that beginnings are impossible, that everything is already in motion when you arrive, though I’ll stop there because Betsy has been giving me the look she gives when I’m about to cite Bevan’s Maxims. What I will say is: the STSC keeps attracting people who write things that should not statistically exist given the general trajectory of human attention spans, and that’s either a miracle or a cosmic algorithm, and I refuse to find out which. As for Thomas... the internet has trained us all to be terrible detectives, we pattern-match aggressively and don’t sleep very well, so I’m going to heroically resist drawing conclusions and simply note that this information now exists in a place I will definitely be returning to. More featured authors incoming! We are not stopping! NEVER! AHAHAHAHAH!

While I continue to worry over Thomas’s whereabouts, I do believe one of the best things to happen to the internet as of late, is this revolutionary takeover of the club by Betsey and Felix!
I’m beginning to think Thomas is onboard the spaceship Aubade and hundreds of light years away from Earth.
